The main aim of the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Diet and Nutrition for the Complementary Therapist is to enable Candidates to provide healthy eating advice for their clients whom they already treat for another therapy for the purpose of improving health and lifestyle
The ITEC Diet & Nutrition Course is the most widely recognised qualification for complementary therapist in Ireland and the UK. The International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC) is based in London and is the largest international examination board offering a variety of vocational qualifications in beauty, complementary and sports therapy. ITEC qualifications are on the National Qualification Framework and are recognised nationally and internationally.
The Fitness Academy Diet & Nutrition course will provide you with an in depth knowledge and understanding of the process involved when the body extracts the nutrients we need form the food we eat, and how it uses the nutrients to support life and fuel physical activity and exercise. Learn about the food you eat, the food you don’t eat, and the food you should and shouldn’t eat. The Fitness Academy Diet & Nutrition course will provide you with an understanding of food, and knowledge of the nutritional value of food, from macronutrients such as carbohydrates, protein and fats, to micronutrients such as vitamins and minerals. You will learn how to analyze and assess specific nutritional requirements for a wide range of clients, then offer advice, plan, and prescribe dietary & nutritional programmes to meet their health, nutritional and fitness needs. The Fitness Academy Diet & Nutrition course will provide you with all the knowledge and practical skills you need to become a successful diet & nutrition advisor. Course Topics include:
– Give comprehensive advice on diet and nutrition
– Plan and prescribe dietary and nutritional programs for a wide range of clients
– Provide advice and prepare logical arguments in support of / against particular controversial issues in diet and nutrition such as fad diets, certain supplements etc.
– Understand the concepts involved with taking mineral and nutritional supplements
– Understand the potential benefits and side effects of taking ergogenic aids for exercise and sporting performance
– Understand the optimal intake of food and fluid before, during and after exercise
This Diet & Nutrition course is ideal for any complementary therapist who wishes to be able to give more guidance to their clients on healthy eating.
Option 1 – Online training – distance Learning
The course is online – study at your own pace in convenience of your own home.
Option 2 – On-site training
The course is part-time.
1 evening a week over 3 months
Every Monday 7-10pm
Course costs – Option 1 – €399/Option 2 – €990 and includes tuition fees and online training materials.
